Convenience or compliance, what should be the more significant technological consideration for your business systems?
Has technological innovation in the contemporary business environment created a glut of user convenience at the cost of regulatory control and compliance?
Burgeoning technology, has created an over-reliance of our systems to get results 100% accurate.
Business decision makers are in fear of being “left behind” by technology which often results in hasty software decisions, purchasing systems or implementing practices or processes, that aren’t always fully compliant.
My pet gripe, is businesses are sold payroll software which is marketed as "set and forget" – there is no such thing!!. Most systems will need some form of manual manipulation to make the flexibility of the current workforce adhere to the rigidity of the Holidays Act 2003.
The primary concern for most business owners is turning a profit and remaining successful, even more so imperative in the current fiscal environment. However, financial success is of little consequence if a government entity issues you with compliance breaches notices and penalties, or worse closes your operations down, because you did not meet the legal or regulatory requirements.
It is about getting the current balance in your business, but when it comes to payroll, compliance should be the key contender. With so many options of software to use these days, it is important to make an informed decision, that’s where there is benefit in seeking independent specialist advice.
